Ashley Aviyah’s Resume Reel. Ashley is a morning show reporter for KTVO in Missouri. I added a bit of personality in the end and ended it with one of my favorite editing experiements (the credits for another video while syncing the cuts to the song… I love editing!)
Social media is all about the new and now. So on Tuesdays and Thursdays, KTVO’s ‘Good Morning Heartland’ will do one better. We will tell you what’s new on social media, what’s trending now and I’ll predict what’s next.
NEW for this Tuesday is Facebook has made yet another change requiring iPhone and Android users to download Facebook Messenger. If you are still not using Facebook Messenger, you may not have much time before your messages disappear. Some Facebookers are worried that if you download the messenger app, you’re giving Facebook permission to call and text people from your phone and even access your camera microphone. But Facebook says these are the same permissions granted to the original app and many others as well…
NOW currently is the Ice Bucket Challenge. The Challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water on vide, posting the video to social media and nominating others to do the same. This is in an effort to raise ALS awareness. Those nominated, who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a donation to the ALS charity of their choice.
Now this ice challenge is making some Iowa politics a cold place to be. The Latest to take the ice bucket challenge is Iowa US Senate Candidate Rick Stewart.
“It’s all in good fun,” said Stewart, “but more than that it’s for a good cause. Lou Gehrig’s disease – ALS – still has no cure. Research dollars are scarce, and if throwing ice water on my head helps, I’m in for the ride.”
Stewart then challenged Iowa Senator Tom Harkin and Senate hopefuls Bruce Braley and Joni Ernst to do the same.
NEXT! Ashley’s prediction for what’s next on social media is a Twitter Mall! Several Users recently reported seeing a new ‘payments and shipping’ button on Twitters android app. The option isn’t function yet. This could be a feature that Twitter is trying out or is a shopping platform around the corner for Twitter?
That’s what’s new, what’s now and what’s next for this Tuesday. Tune in Thursday another round of ‘New. Now. Next’ on Good Morning Heartland.
