End of the Summer Family Friendly FUN!

It’s August! That means its almost time to go back to school! But you have a few weeks to get in all the summer fun you can before its time for the kids to go to school. So here are a few of my picks of summer fun to get in before the end of August! Here are some great activities this August:

  • Retro on Roscoe
  • Where: 2000-2300 W Roscoe
  • Sat/Sun Aug. 11/12 2012

There are 3 main stages and 6 blocks of fun! (Artisans, antique vendors, local restaurant, & an antique car show) Money benefits the Roscoe Village Neighbors nonprofit organization to ensure excellency in advocacy of quality of life for their residents and neighbors.

  • Family Fun Festival by Target
  • Where: Millenium Park’s Chase Promenade North
  • When: 10am – 3pm

The Family Fun Festival returns to Millennium Park is over September 3rd. The Family Fun Festival includes family performances and hands-on activities in the Family Fun Tent. The Family Fun Festival is sponsored byTarget and presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture.

  • Under the Picasso
  • Where: Daley Civic Center
  • When: 12 noon – 1:00 pm each day

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events presents FREE cultural programs year round weekdays at Noon at the Daley Civic Center.

Friday, August 10 : Live musical & dance performances: Celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Chicago’s robust relationships with cities around the world. Chicago Sister Cities International presents the 7th annual Chicago Sister Cities International Festival with international village filled with a rich variety of authentic ethnic food, merchandise and entertainment that will enliven the downtown Loop with tastes, sights and sounds of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods born from cities throughout the global community.

Monday, August 13 : India Independence Day: The Associations of Indian in America (AIA), celebrate India Independence Day with a raising of the flag and program.

Tuesday, August 14 : Flag Raising Ceremony, The Consulate General of Pakistan Chicago has official flag raising followed by program and music.
